I suppose it's pretty presumptuous of me to be restyling trees of someone of Walter Pall's stature. But after coming back, months later and looking at the tree and my post, and others' posts, I thought that I should at least attempt a virtual image of what Mark and I discussed.

I like the tree very much! The slab is just perfect for it and beautiful too.
It was a good idea to free up the view on the main trunk in the lower third. The tree looks shorter by doing so,excellent.

I think the tree really looks more mature;I know it is only a little sparser in the foliage pads but it helps.

Nice change.
When it is displayed to show its best, the slab can be placed on a low, formal rectangular stand of appropriate size, to bring out the beauty of the rustic effect.

Call me crazy, but I still prefer the tree in the pot over the slab. Both are nice, but the "potted" version speaks in different seasons to me. The slab version says winter. Part of this is the foliage color in the photos, but the slab just says "cold" to me.
