Will you are missing my point that I was trying to make before. My question had to do with the fact, of the huge difference between the scores of the 3 judges! No well written lesson in bonsai viewing can change this fact for me or other well trained bonsai professional that read it. And don't get me wrong here, I am pleased that Mike won a price for his work, good for him! But it was the many many very negative reactions that were posted on many bonsai forums around Europe after they saw the scoring cards, that triggered me to ask the question to explain why there were so many strange and huge difference in the scoring!
Don't be surprised, that if you don't take this seriously, many will think twice before entering a other competition again! Many who viewed or entered this competition are well trained and educated top bonsai professionals that are not so easily fooled and know a good or bad bonsai when they see one! I think that if you want to make groundbreaking competitions, you should at least look in to this seriously. I am sorry that I was the bringer of this bad news, my intentions were honorable and well meant! Do with it what you want, for me this subject is closed now.
Regards,
Hans van Meer.
