Vaughn Banting Memorabilia AuctionIt is our extreme honor to present the Vaughn Banting Memorabilia Auction here at the Art of Bonsai Project.
After careful consideration, Vaughn’s family decided that Vaughn’s extensive collection of bonsai related books, magazines, pots, Asian memorabilia, and other items should go to people who, like Vaughn, embrace the art of bonsai and who would give these items the respect and care that they deserve.
The Editorial Staff of AoB will start a separate thread for each item or groups of items in this section, in order to keep each auction separate and to allow discussion on such without confusion. Titles of the auction threads will contain the item or items being auctioned as well as the current status of the auction.
Interested parties need not be a member of AoB in order to place a bid or win an auction; however joining is required in order to participate in the discussions.
Bids can be made by simply emailing your bid, along with the item number located under each picture, to
will@artofbonsai.org. Bids will be posted in red text daily in the corresponding thread in the order that they were received. Bidders names will be included in each post.
Each auction will have an expiration date, set with the goal of allowing as many people as possible to see the items. Once the expiration date and time is reached, the winning bidder will be announced and no other bids will be accepted or posted for that item.
Once won, the winning bidder will receive an invoice from PayPal with instructions on making payment. All payments must be made before the item or items will be shipped. Items not paid for within 48 hours after the invoice is emailed will be offered to the second highest bidder at their last bid amount. If the second highest bidder refuses this option, the item or items will be resubmitted for auction.
Once an auction has been won and payment received, the winning bidder’s email will be sent to Vaughn’s family and they will arrange shipping.
Once sold, the thread containing the item or items sold will be deleted and a single picture of the item or items, along with the winners name will be posted in this thread below.
All proceeds from this auction will go to Vaughn’s estate; no part will go to AoB, its management, staff, or members.
Our thanks and appreciation go out to Guy Guidry who set up this auction, to Vaughn’s family who are sharing some of his legacy with all of us, To Joy, Vaughn’s sister, who is taking on the work load, and of course to Vaughn, for all he has done for the art of bonsai, he is missed greatly.
Auctions will start soon, keep checking back for the first and for others that will follow over time. Good luck and thanks.
